It’s better if you just forget the authors setup and MC backstory. The authors been pissing all over it from the start. Better to think of it as a kid from the dangerous boonies story and things are easier to swallow.

Does this guild not have any leeway for giving obviously superior rookies a head start? He’d obviously be wasted on low-ranking quests!
Did the translator mix up Gill and Scale? Cause that sure looks more like a scale than a gill..
And why would a dragon with wings have gills for breathing under water???

*sigh* At least the bit where the older adventurer believes him and lets him pass on the spot wasn’t cliche, would have dropped it on the spot if it was the old idiot bully/jealousy side character arc… I guess all the usual side character stupidity was solved by transferring it to the MC
