I had actually forgotten he did this as the future chapters roll along. He definitely later shows jealousy for her (no, jealousy is not all bad, if some guy steps in between me and my wife with impure intentions, I’m going to feel jealous for her). But he really is a boy just learning to be a man, and learning the difference between like, rival, sweetness, and true love. But I’m mostly happy to travel the next 100 chapters plus if he ends up with the right girl.
