He can either copy or use the abilities that he as a affinity for so if a person he tries to copy is close personally then he can copy but random people he cant. that would be quite balance 
hmmm i wonder if the woman with the healing ability levels up so much that she can regrow the mcs leg

Thank god. I assume his power is copying whoever targets him. In this case healer targeted him as a heal target so he could use her abilities. Regular dude didn’t have anything so MC was unaffected. Sister had strength so MC gained strength equal to hers.
Thought it was nullification at first.
