I was hoping we would get a more serious chapter since someone close to the Mc died. But its just weird. Also why is this the first time we are hearing about the MCs addiction to true love?

This is all over the place. Comedy is all about timing and subversion of expectations; if you put a gag on every other page it stops being funny really quickly.
Not to mention this is right after a supposedly serious episode where somebody “died”. Poorly mixing serious and comedy moments just makes neither land.
It’s like somebody saw One Punch Man and didn’t understand what made it click.
