This is some impossible to follow crap translation. The translation by Animated Glitched Scans actually makes sense.

I have a few problems with the student bandit’s thinking/argument:
1. He says he openly dislikes stereotypes, and calls them dangerous, yet presumed everyone from the orthodox faction is evil because nobody can be completely good (and while yes, people can’t be completely good, it doesn’t mean they’re all just the same level of awful evil, either. Clearly there are people, like the heir to the namgoong clan or whatnot that don’t wish to take advantage of others, but instead try to help them, like how he tried to defend the people who got killed by the bandits by doing, well, a not so nice thing);
2. Just because the higher-ups in the orthodox faction also act upon their greed, it doesn’t mean that the sins of the bandits are in any way absolved. They have threatened and extorted valuables from people for many, many years, generation from generation, and, even though they know what they do is wrong, they never tried changing it because to them it was just a “natural way of life” so-to-speak, and blame others over admitting their own faults. It isn’t immoral to do something evil, but it’s immoral to do it when you have a better alternative, and I doubt that with the strength that these bandits have ammased that they wouldn’t be able to make an honest living in some shape or form (such as, I dunno, mercenaries or something worst case).
3. The moment they embraced the fact that they’re bandits, they’ve resigned themselves to their work as bandits. They *should* know by now that they themselves, who preyed on those weaker than themselves, have no right to justify their own actions as somehow “moral” in any way. They have extorted, and possibly even killed innocent people. And though the orthodox faction’s elite aren’t much better than them in any real way, as I stated earlier, it’s absurd to call them worse and then just shrug off their own sins.
Phew, thanks for reading my lil’ rant there. Just wanted to make sure to get my opinion out. Haven’t read the next chapter yet, but I have vague memories of this series either way, so I’d be glad to be corrected in some way if somebody could bring up a convincing point against any of this, since it just kinda irritated me that every character was like “oo what a smart bandit” when his argument had such glaring faults.
Also, pretty please don’t call me stupid just cuz I called somethin’ out; I actually really like this series (though it may not seem like it) 😊.
P.s. big komment 💬 💬 u deserve gold star for getting to end ⭐
