I am so glad Desir is doing something useful, become the service style leader that people will follow because he is worth following.
He avoided becoming a useless ‘Beacon’ , self-loving ‘Disruptor and Icon’ or any other conman style political evangelist. In other words he stayed a decent human being.
Crow has always been and absolute slave to his ‘ideals’ he wants to force on everyone and his self-centered victim complex / trauma. He thinks he is smarter than every one in the room and the pope is delusionally secure in his sacrificing the world to the goddess, they make a good pair.
Unlike President anous i am still disappointed. Desir became a lap dog of the socially exclusionary class. He could’ve been a true icon, a beacon. Instead he’s just some dude who had to go play among the elites instead of being a real disruptor.

I am so twisted between Romantica and Adjest. I like them both.
Romantica is the first female in the party and potential love interest introduced. It also seems like he had a close relationship with her in his previous life, and she obviously likes him now.
But Adjest is someone who changed in his new life from the cold, emotionless warrior who was one of the strongest, if not the strongest warrior/magician in his past life, and her character development is the best out of them all, imo. She also grew to respect all her team members and even seems like a great character.
In the novel, I believe its Adjest, here, I think it is up to our own fantasies or ideas on who we want.

I always like these kinds of small world building parts in stories it really helps flesh stories out I am just sad that people are turning this into something thinking it has connections to real life racial politics… Can’t we all just enjoy the political system and world building the creator of this series has made not tie it into real life stuff
Wtf is with all of the comments talking about modern racial politics!? This story has zero to do with race, and everything to do with equality of social class. AKA a fight as old as society. The author picked a character, from a far southern nation, that was black. This does not, somehow, turn the situation into a question of modern identity politics.
Seriously – some of you need to unplug for awhile. Entirely. You are getting too mentally entrenched in the idea that everything in life is about politics. This is, literally, the goal of Identity Politics, and its purpose is to get everyone split into smaller and smaller camps based on ever narrowing boxes based on how people identify. Once you manage to get society split into the smallest possible identity groups – you no longer have to worry about them unifying against anything that your government does.
Seriously – unplug. Save your own minds before you realize that you’ve managed to lock yourself into a tiny, unthinking box.
