Here are 2 problems. One is obvious:
Skelly mask guy knows of other time lines. How?
- Connection with goddess?
- His own ability (magic, or something else?)
The other one is more troublesome. Scary, actually.
There’s someone standing behind skelly mask, possibly… The goddess Artemis might really exist and be hellbent on erasing this ‘failed’ world.
It won’t be funny if Skelly mask guy is basically her apostle and knows as much as she does – basically, as much as goddess capable of destroying the world knows. The only goddess mentioned so far being enemy of mc whose strength is their mind and not magic…
Although, to refute my own statement, there might be something no less interesting – after all, our mc might have regressed back with the help of Artemis, who (probably) actually wants to save the world from whatever enemy/corrosion, and it’s obvious why Desir’s the best for that – he might be not strong, but he’s still hella smart. He knows magic that others in this time don’t know yet, facts that make him act more flexible… and he is determined to save the world.
But the question remains the same. Who is skelly mask and who or what stands behind him?
We ALL can change history… History for people in the future. 
Using the law of causality to shape history to your liking. Yes, that doesn’t sound despotic at all.

Skull mask is not a time traveler but probably half immortal or long living.
His goal is to use the causality manipulation magic to change every historic event that played in the shadow worlds to their desired outcome.
but kinda a paradoxon, since one of those outcomes was his death 120 years ago, which would lead to him not changing history in the present.
Also, Im starting to think that the mysterious person that put out those items like Adjests ice sword in their placed might be Desir who traveled to the past even further, either that or its another time traveler who put them out to change the course of time.
And artemis for sure the reason why MC was send to the past.
