If this MC were any more dense, he would have a palpable gravitational field. If he was any LESS dense, he’d have saved himself with this kind of line.
Her message wouldn’t have been “ignored”, “denied”, “torn up by an idiot”, “not even noticed”, etc… no, she just could have realized he never saw it because he was trying to not die.
