And just like that I hate this manga. Comes from modern Japan and just is fine with slavery!? He could free them all with his status and wealth, 12 YEARS OLD!! And being sold as a sex slave!? Why!? This nation must be Islamic.
I’m mad. He’s a 30-year old man from modern Japan, who was supposedly exploited by a corporation to the point where he was barely surviving, and yet, when in need of helping hands to build his enterprise, his FIRST thought is not slavery, but CHILD slavery.
Looking over the terrified children lined up in rags, his feelings are not of anger or disgust or despair, but happiness as he screams in mind: “This is it! The last one is a jackpot!”
And then with a little magic and a little encouragement, the child slaves cries with JOY that she can be of use to her master! She was literally a ball of trauma and in one night she turns into this. I’m fully expecting her to say she’s thankful her dad sold her off so she could be his slave.
For those moaning about slavery, when a world does not have mass education, where reading, writing and math are the norm, slavery becomes a normal business. Look at social structures and pressures, where are skills needed, where is labor needed and such.
Slave empires start to fall apart as technology and knowledge spread. When you have a higher level of technology and knowledge, slavery becomes more exclusive until it’s cost prohibitive, causing more trouble to society than it’s worth.
Is it, on any level, an ideal system, no, but neither is killing monsters for money. Such is the messy nature of humanity.
