Mismatched socks allow individuals to challenge the status quo in a lighthearted yet powerful manner, urging others to embrace their unique selves. That is all that prince is doing. He did not wear them because he is scatterbrained. It was an attempt at levity.

Fashion people should be purged from society. People should be able to wear what they want, but since these are Japanese writers it will be blown out of proportion and reflect “badly” on the character. I never understood their obsession with appearances begets personalities, even if it’s just mangas and archetypes. Way too important for these people
