The reason why Alicia is demoted needs to be seen through Duke Beldini and Chiffon’s lens. Alicia, while having a high sense of responsibility, is supposed to be basically a retainer or maid for the Duke’s house. Retainers need to help their master achieve their goal. However, everything she does is filtered through a solipsistic outlook, where even her service to Chiffon is really because she is serving her own sense of reverence and respect to Chiffon, not really out of loyalty, which leads her to continuously question whether she is being chased out of the Duke’s house. So far, Alicia has actually been more of a hindrance to her master than a help.

Take a look at all her interactions with Miyabi and Co throughout the series: She has been cold and even sometimes abrasive. Take Miyabi’s first meeting with her in Ch13, she was purposely cold and constantly looked down on Miyabi (which she still does in this chapter). She thinks herself too high above to be even just casually nice to Miyabi. However, think about it from Chiffon or Duke Beldini’s POV. They are trying to get closer to Miyabi because they recognize Miyabi’s power could be game-changing, and they are quite tolerant and kind to Miyabi despite Miyabi’s immaturity and not knowing etiquette surrounding nobility. The commission to construct the bath is proof of the Duke wanting a start some kind of relationship with Miyabi, even if only at least transactional at first. During the journey to escort Chiffon, Chiffon continually tries to get closer to Miyabi and Liz (Mel kinda included) because having a great relationship with Miyabi and Liz would be hugely beneficial in the future, they are basically hedging their bets on Miyabi. However, Alicia consistently goes against this through her coldness and lack of respect for Miyabi and Liz, which undermine Chiffon’s efforts to make friends with Miyabi and Liz. Alicia is literally sabotaging the Beldini’s plans while still saying she is serving them. Very counterproductive.

Therefore, the Duke understandably demotes her. Alicia is actively dragging down Chiffon even if she has good intentions, and she is undermining the Duke’s efforts to have a decent relationship with Miyabi. Also, honestly with how Alicia has revealed her own insecurities and superiority complex here, she likely would have been a bad influence on Chiffon in the future, especially since the Beldini’s are not the kind of noble family that are outwardly super elitist towards “inferior” crafter people. Her mentality is opposite to the Beldini’s in many ways.
