As Long as I Have the [Shop] Skill, I’ll Have an Easy Life Even in a World That Has Been Transformed Into a Dungeon! - Chapter 17

I like this manga in general. I like the storyline, the premise of the story. Sure, some aspects are a bit silly perhaps, but it’s a manga. I’m not expecting the magnum opus (manga opus, tee hee) of Fyodor Dostoyevskiy here..
But, here’s what i find really annoying. It’s the style of writing, which is sadly common nowadays. The technique.
And the technique goes as follows;

Buildup, buildup, and buildup towards a “showdown”.
Finally after a lot of time, the showdown scene occurs and the chapter ends on a cliffhanger! And just when things are about to get interesting, one of two things happen. Either we get a long and boring backstory mini arc, OR “MC miraculously escapes”/”villain miraculously escapes”/”or some other deus ex machina writing trick which leaves the reader frustrated. Rinse and repeat, forever.
So the reader is continuously and perpetually teased for a showdown that never arrives, or when it does, it is so underwhelming that it just leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

Don’t get me wrong, the “showdown teasing” technique can be done very well by a great writer, IF and only IF it’s not overdone, AND the showdown actually happens AND is done very well once it does happen!

Here however it just seems as if the writer has no idea where he wants to take the story. I have a small suspicion we’re just being strung along. Writer imagined a great premise, but he had no real idea where to take it from there..
I hope it improves because the premise has great potential.
