My guess as to where this story will go..
– the girl survives,
– Ilay gets into prison
– MC gets captured by the enemy
– Ilay get a good and clean “re-education”
– MC learns that the empire is a bug turd and joins the resistance
-ilay climbs the ladder in the military and becomes some sort of inquisitor, hunting dissidents
-big showdown between MC and Ilay at the hight of the rebellion
-mc defeats Ilay, and as he’s dying in his arms his brainwashing wears off and they have a heartbreaking goodbye.
