Luka future theory

My theory is that Ilay is going to die. We’ve already seen that he doubts the Empire, especially considering how he tried to help the girl he loved escape from it—but he had to kill her to keep Luka safe. I think Ilay is going to get killed by the Empire, and since Luka is close enough to him that he actually broke the code for him, it would completely send Luka over the edge. He wouldn’t join the Empire anymore—or he might even get outcasted because he can’t pass the mental checks anymore. That would lead to him leaving the Empire and joining another group, maybe the one that uses magic like we saw in the earlier chapters. Or, he might start a rebellion. Either way, I think Ilay or Jizel will die (just someone really close to Luka), and that’s what will make him leave the Empire.

We all knew it was too easy to catch Barbara, like she’d ever appear alone like that… but damn I was not expecting that!

I doubt brain swap tech is even available to anyone else, otherwise old nobles and wealthy people would just swap into younger bodies every few years (I would at least, if I was an immoral and planetarily wealthy aristocrat) :fire:
