It’s in your “nature” to act rashly?! Maybe that’s why you’re a father, although you’re not much of one at that.

What an absolutely spineless cop out by the author.

lol he’s the leader of the strongest mercenary group of the world, has killed the dragon a few times and obtains millions of dollars… but isn’t even able to send money to his kids?
That’s ridiculous, just die and shut up

I went to protect you, I just left you no money even though I had a well paying job ’till I’ve quit it. Then I worked for famous mercenary group that was rolling in the money. Author is seriously retarded. When he realised how retarded this plot was he should lean in into piece of shit father and just use his death to release MCs instead of burdening them. What a trash author.

Old man, honestly, had to die.
I think that author understood he’s messed up this “mysterious old man was actually a loving parent” plotline so he was forced to call it quits, killing off dad in the process to end this. Thank god he/she/them finally understood how unreasonable this guy’s very existence was.
If we dive in the story, then he’s one hell of failure of a father. Left kids alone, unprotected, with no money support either, nor had he asked some friend of his to protect them. By this point, whatever he does and says I’ll call bs. Maybe his death was a bit too fast. Though, for him, death was the only way he could finally release his emotions and be honest. Still, he’s dumb af anyway. His death might have been too soon, and, truth be told, siblings explaining it to his mercenaries would be a pain realistically speaking. I’d rather have siblings beat him up and make him work hard for them for a while. So that he can clean his sins up even a bit. Well, what we have is what we have.

So let me get this straight; this dude who supposedly cares for his kids didn’t write to them once, send or arrange for someone to look after them, didn’t send them any money when he was the leader of one of the world’s most successful mercenary or acknowledge the poverty or poor conditions they were living in when he did finally show up.
This last gasp here sounds like a shitty attempt by a dying man not to have his kids justifiably resent him after he dies. He left them alone, completely unsupervised and now claims that he cares. I don’t buy it.

What a load of bs. The desire to explore dungeons = protect them??????? From which dimension, planet, race, and multiverse number logic is this?
A stupid logic for an overused sympathetic card. Just be hones, “it was for feeding readers’ delusion”

LMAO. It was a nice attempt to redeem him, unfortunately, those kinds of reasonings are flawed af, and incredibly stupid. Nice try though.

I might actually care if they hadn’t been living in abject poverty while a damn mercenary leader couldn’t send a single cent back to his family. Caring about them means nothing if he never did anything to prove it.
