Why the heck did he explained that? So unnatural. He should’ve told something among the lines “sorry, it was an accident” and then MC, with his eyes of truth, would come to conclusion that he lied and killed the dude. Oh well.

This is so dumb. Yes it’s a selection, but you’re only selecting the people who have good betrayal skills. So unless the goal of these towers is to build a collection of the worst human scums in the universe, it’s simply a design failure.
Either that or the author must have thought it would be cool to introduce this kind of drama without thinking too much about plausibility.
