The Guardian is not the enemy of the church he is its founder and knows the truth. The church is a cash business built of other peoples faith and they can not afford to have the truth revealed as it would destroy the business. Therefore the Guardian is to be kept asleep and under the churches control.
Abilities existed from the begining right. The gods didnt exist 1000 years ago so someone took the “magic words” that activated abilities and made up gods named with the pass word. This way they control the masses with the political structure of the church and collect ability users as they see fit. Getting rid of users who are beyond their control. Witch’s discovered that everyone could have abilities but needed some conditions to get them so they found that out and started spreading it. That was dangerous as it threatened to cause the church’s control to collapse. The most dangerous abilities are ones that create life so the temporary life and emotional village that allows warrior-kun and ren to be born are too dangerous since other abilities dont work on individuals made from abilities. Maybe the monsters that were on the island were created from abilities as well, going crazy after the creator died.
I’m convinced now, the guardian saint Is actually an enemy of the church but they can’t afford to kill him so they keep him suspended in time. So naturally we need him to wake up so he may destroy the church.
