Even though he’s a dumbass, but I don’t how would I act if I were in his shoes, like going thru everything he’s suffered and having grand aspirations of becoming a cool adult with tons of money. He’s a teenager easily influenced by externalities and prone to stand out, thus, incurs irreversible consequences. Especially, having lost parents and living in poverty for quite a while, he’s got many desperate wishes pent up and rushing out upon supernatural power acqusition. 
What happens right now is too cruel, as a whole, and torturing for an immature minor’s mind, specifically.
