ok so like, the manga hasnt been introducing anything new for a while now, and after doing a bit of analysis between tomodachi game and this manga (since thats the only other manga tab i have open, well, theres also blue lock, and i guess i can do a quick read of one of tokyo ghoul’s chapters):
the addition of new information per chapter is very important, this manga hasnt been doing that, and the fact that the paneling, not even the artstyle, is so simplistic, makes it very dull to read
i once watched a video that said “the way fujimoto does csm is like a movie” and sure, but it isnt a movie, its a weekly release, you cant make it like a movie if its being published weekly, you can make it like a movie afterwards by giving suggestions for the anime
in terms of paneling, the 3 other mangas mentioned have flashbacks, neat and organized text visuals and arrangements that can switch up if needed for a dramatic effect, i once thought that beam taking up an entire width using his text bubble was interesting but looking back at it it was a waste of space
then the next is something tokyo ghoul does frequently while the others do only a little bit, empty spaces, so basically its just text with very minimal background information to take in (examples are shown in images)
there are also times when they use the white spaces in between the panels to create a dramatic effect (example in images), if you look closely, the main attraction isnt inside the panels, blue lock does this a lot too but rather than straight up not being inside a panel, the objects or characters inside extend outside of the panel, making it more visually interesting (example in images)
both tomodachi game and tokyo ghoul prioritize information before art, with the art being a method to effectively convey that information, blue lock’s information to art ratio leans much more heavily on art compared to the two however it still manages to convey more information than this single chapter
what ive noticed is that some panels are just characters, right? and it feels like ive seen that pose before, that same exact angle, how is that supposed to effectively convey information? for example that scene with fami saying “maybe hes hungry” couldve been much more interesting to look at if the background wasnt just a plain screentone, if the panel actually included the information being conveyed in the text
anyway

I’m done here. I think author really wanted to end it before the weird hiatus/publisher change/whatever happened and doesn’t really want to be writing this anymore. Garbage for a long time now. No more cooking.
