They would do a lot more damage if they focused everything on his army instead of him and his elites, they are losing without earning anything, without reducing the overall strength of the army at all.
Their numbers are nowhere near enough to tire out the MC, their death is completely meaningless and completely unable to reduce the overall strength of his army because there are no casualties on his side at all. Killing elites or the Heavenly Demon is completely out of their reach.
