Maybe you need the deaths of some of your comrades or children to get motivated, like the beginning of the story told.
It bugs me alot how his demon sect is now only good and he talks as if he always thought like that.
Author got lazy, thats the main point…

Is it possible for him to not realize that his opponent is a jiangshi? I mean like almost every character in here not a quick witted one when come to this kind of thing..

Nice, those tricks had the effect of pushing the MC to try even harder = become even stronger as time passes. I can see him becoming more and more unstoppable the more this war goes on
