I dont get the motivation here?
I want revenge against then people im working with so im going to kill you, even though they dont want me to, but they let me come out here to try anyway????

Yeah, pretty stupid. But, revenge is always a stupid thing to obsess over. So, people who get stuck on it only get more and more removed from straightforward, logical thought processes. It’s to be expected.
As far as the cult allowing him his chance, their side actually makes more sense in this case. They are confident that he’ll fail and will become one of their oh-so-important sacrifices when Avidia kills him.
