tbh the spirits are way too lenient
the royal family tortured spirits before and they just put a curse on a single family even though countless spirits suffered
now they find out another spirit is literally sequestered and basically used as a tool and all they plan to do again is to rescue him without really putting any sanctions on the kingdom that has mistreated them twice already
at this point, regardless of how the kingdom will suffer afterwards, they should just forbid any contract between the people of this kingdom and spirits
because rn it seems the consequences for hurting spirits are not much (it happened twice yet there’s nothing in place to stop it from happening again)
