Damn, I’m stuck between feeling pity and mirth for that guy. One the one hand, he was given a kinda shit draw, no talent with the sword or with his main enjoyment, magic. On the other hand, he (seemingly) put forth no or minimal effort to actually improve himself past a point.
I always enjoy seeing people born with a golden spoon in their mouth trip and choke on it, but I can definitely empathize with trying to follow enjoyment rather than duty. I definitely tried to get my dream job for a few years, it didn’t work out for reasons outside of my control, so I can definitely understand turning to excess to distract yourself. However, I can’t understand letting yourself just keep falling deeper and deeper like that.
