Ah the g/f power-up trope. Some folks dislike it for being lazy, Me? It cheapens the hero’s journey to me especially in a shonen.
Martial peak did this… twice. 1000+ chapters and the MC meets with his g/f’s or wives then 2 chapters they’re comparable to him after1000 chapters. It’s far worse there though, the wives a AWOL from the story until the next power up in 1000 more chapters.
Because it makes things more interesting
