The story writer has given up on this point. There are so many plot holes it is becoming ridiculous. So there is an arena, where only one fighter remains, that sits and wait on standby, the moment another contestant drops in randomly, 5 min later they are facing off and there is a huge crowd… Not only that, the story ark of entering an arena with a mask has been told so many times. Then try to spin it on that there is a gender reason for having male and females not fight because of male insecurities… At least at the start of the story, they made some effort to make the story believable, like the mock battles not using real rounds of ammunition. But now the story is cheap, not thought through and just plain ridiculous. Have to drop.
