I kinda get the mc here. He had been locked up for years, he never really grew up. All the memories we’ve seen are from when he were young, before… the “incident”. So I still think he’s not that mentally mature and wants to be like his younger self as much as possible.
I definitely don’t think the author thought about this, they just thought “loli sell many books”, but thats why I can see why he likes Philine or whatever.
I think it would be less weird if it were actually just innocent kids. But the MC has a mind of a adult so the kissing is kinda
