Only Asian writers can be this obsessed with “blood” and “illegitimacy” like it or not, he still has the blood of the king in him.
In any point of history, even if he they were an illegitimate child they would still get benefits.
For the main character to have lived as a peasant, and openly get mocked for being the kings illegitimate son means that not only is this king just dumb and incompetent but he’s a bad king, no matter how much the author tries to make him look better and misunderstood.
Also these civilians are dumb as hell, openly mocking a kings offspring, illegitimate or not is an insult to the king and is considered high treason, why are low-rank nobles acting high and mighty and disrespecting the kings son in the kings own royal garden, honestly this entire royal family is dumb.

You’re telling me that a single mage controlled most of the business in the slums and ruled it with an iron fist alone without the support of any other strongmen and managed to do it successfully? The and everybody in the palace seem to know all about this guy and have the means to easily destroy him yet they haven’t.

The mage was also apparently once a part of the knight order, which means it is also treason.

Honestly the more I read the more incompetent I find this king. Normally in these manhwa’s the king is made to be a conquer or good leader at the expense of being a horrible person, however not only is the king here incompetent and stupid, but he’s also a bad person as well.

It’s the little things like him only having a single guard to protect him against an assassin while he’s in the slums, and said guard actually just being his advisor and him having to defend himself. Like what?
