All those people complaining that it makes no sense that the duke claims the father ran away and everyone just believes him.
And then they apply 21st century-logic to this. Ridiculous. This is a fantasy world. They are based on medieval law. Back then, when the king says that someone else had done something and wanted to behead them, they could just do it.
They based a lot of their law on “honor” as in that a man would not lie obviously, because then his word had no value in the future anymore.
So yea, if the tower master says the father did that, they are at first inclined to believe him simply because his standing (tower master) is so high. Since such a person has more to lose when lying…

That world is some next level brain dead. They have no proof what so ever on the mc father running away from the war by just some red tower master say so who dont know even all the details. Then the mc family name is ruined and lose all of their property and titles for that.
But when the red tower disciple is framed to be colluding with the enemy then it’s all good and let the guy have just 6 months of suspension and that is it.
