Calling it now. The El in the past is also the El in the present. El was the elder god that noone can contact. When Trowel was destroying humanity in the true past it would not surprise me if his contractor at the time committed the great taboo just like the Demon King is now. Keep in mind he had to have a physical form at that time so he had to have a contractor and Demons have proven they can be contractors. The elder god came down to intervene and redeemed Trowell while sacrificing himself to seal the contractor. Fast forward to the heaven and demon war that split the realm and the Demon God spending most of his time in hiding among the demons who are trapped in the Demon Realm. The current Demon God may have assended to his position as a result of the great taboo and may have been the original person who committed it. Everyone can sense the evil and terror coming out of him when he relaxes after all and it even intimidates higher gods. The original El must have sealed his powers to their current weaker form and put the restrictions on the Demons trapping them in the demon world and having black hair and eyes. When El sacrificed himself he re-entered the cycle of reincarnation and he still qualified as a “Pure Soul” that meets the requirements for deification. He eventually became Elqueeness through that cycle. Whether the current Demon God is a true friend or working with the next generation Evil God I don’t know. The current evil god candidate did eat the fruit of truth and used to be fanatically devoted to the Demon God so he could be following in the footsteps of his mentor.
