Well, I guess they’re being honest now, in a way.
Short-sighted to begin with, really.
If you truly believe he can read hearts, why were you attempting to manipulate him like that?
Either he could see right through it, and it was pointless effort, or if he couldn’t see right through it, he didn’t have the ability you wanted and it was pointless effort for another reason.
It’s also funny to me how consistent the fears are within economic strata.
When you’re in poverty dire enough to affect survival, you learn to evaluate your fears with a little more perspective.
People like that noble brat have so little to fear to begin with, that they can’t distinguish between a fear they need to pay attention to and do something about, and a fear that is either groundless or that they should not waste energy attempting to address…
Although I guess any person of any wealth can lose sight of their perspective if the fear is sudden and large enough.
