That huge octopus (which should be a squid, really), it’s too far removed from real life.
It’s common knowledge we have only searched around 5% of the waters of Earth, but the deep sea especially remains a mystery.
A huge squid was once caught, but it was only a baby one, but still enormous. Another was caught on camera under water, which was way bigger, but also thought to be an adolescent.
Whilst a squid as big as the kraken here very likely won’t exist, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say a squid at least the length of this kraken could maybe exist.
It was thought for a long time that blue whales have no natural enemies, but enormous sucker wounds from squids have been found on some of them, which are so enormous that it would make them much longer than any blue whale. But, we are yet to find any squids which match the size of these wounds found on these bodies.
