It is a bit sad with these kind of regression stories that it gives the impression that one needs to go back in time to get things right. All the things he realized here he could have done while living on as well.

He could have reaired his relationship to his siblings. As grown ups they would understand he was a child with too much responsibility, in sn impossible situation, and that old resentment would just disappear.

That is how we all need to live our lives. It is nice to indulge in the fantasy of a second try, but sometimes I thing it would have been better with a story where we git some more insight into living well with all that went wrong.
