That bridge is Gehnn’s vengeance and his grief manifest. Two hundred years to make. I cannot even fathom the dedication. He would have had to travel to the other side, build something for a while, travel back to the other side and do the same. Over and over. All the while, I can imagine him fueling himself with memories from that day. You can just see in his eyes what he would have been thinking all that time.

I feel like this second journey is like “tying up loose ends”, where Frieren looks at the places she’s been with her party, all the “we’ll come back later” things, and all the relics from the Demon King era. She travels not only for magic, but to reminisce upon the joy and fun she had with her friends, and how they have changed her.
In the end, this is a story about the curse of longevity. It’s a story about how your friends and loved ones will pass away before you remember to come back and see them again. What an absolutely atrocious and beautiful plot.

If it was any other manga the ease of issue resolution would be an issue, but this story is just so casual and wholesome.
Always a joy to read
