He’s been ‘shortchanged’. He was given three thousand gold for putting three dents in the dragon scale, and he gave him back one thousand for damaging the sword and the entry fee. But it’s obviously no coincidence that after beating the crap out of it subsequently collapsed in a broken heap. Stuff the handful of ‘meal tickets’, the guy owes him another seven thousand gold !
