I don’t know why the trope of “character from another world introduces food from other world to other world denizens and they love it” bugs me as much as it does, but something about it irks me.
It’s probably in my top 3 most hated tropes, and it’s such an innocuous and worthless gripe to have. I’m not even talking about strictly Japanese or Korean or Chinese food. I mean in every instance of it appearing I’m irritated by it. Even if it’s American or western style food.
Especially if it’s palates from medieval times, most modern foods would be so anathema to their taste buds it’d be insane. Hell, Japanese food alone is something that’s very niche and takes time acclimating to if never eaten before.
Fod God’s sake, a modern American style hamburger would probably outright kill weaker people from other worlds.
