Yet again I have to say this for a manga, I count’s daughter is not a princess or even royalty and if anyone but the parents said that would be in so much hot water, to the point that they could lose their head for insurrection / revolt / inciting rebellion. Nobility get really snobby about class, which is why when they started thinking that they were better then civilians, they lost their heads instead.
I get the impression that the mage is the murderer, he will be caught, and happy ending.
Now, instead of this, what i would do is have a plot twist where the Count found out the kids was illegitimate, had the mage kill him, and is now tieing up loose ends. MC would find out, loose even MORE faith in humanity and beastfolk, and go down a path of edge lord darkness.

and MC’s going to use his [Intui-…Cleaning] Skill to find the evidence needed in the investigation?? er… right..

Indeed, leaving this girl behind would be perfect for the story to not continue going downwards but i bet it’ll be a scene where mc is leaving the the sunset snd then the girl will be like “Mc-sama!!! I want to stay with you!!!” Then mc will smile and be like “Yes” and then yall wont hear from me again cuz i will have dropped this shit
