i vaguely remember reading this before
from what I remember the lion man is secretly helping souma purge all the corrupt nobles by sheltering them and waging a war that he will intentionally lose. He knows he will get executed alongside them but it’s a price he’s willing to pay for a bright future of the kingdom he loves so much

Lion guy seems sussy evil, i feel like he’s trying to be evil but it just dont make sense.
I think he’s just trying to remove himself along those useless nobles that abandoned the country with him.
Basically clearing all the germs in the country and pave way for MC to success.
