My theory, as I’m reading this is – in abridgment:
The man who thought he reached immortality and actual control of the soul across all of reality, failed to do so, and is now in constant cycle of having revived a copy dear to him from the dead, but not the actual person. Because of this, he postpones the coin search of anyone else, in order to get more time to see if the person he revived is actually the person dear to him or not.
It’s very visibly not.
The idea of time seems to be the only thing that cannot be turned away in the universe of Gleipnir. And because he only got that power after his dear died, he cannot actually revive her – but a crude copy. He himself is immortal, so it’s likely that he’s got full control of his soul, and souls of others he revived after their deaths.
So to put it simply, so far this is a mere misunderstanding of time on the part of the man who collected 100 coins, and he’s so deep in his own insanity – that he hates anyone who even suggests the mechanism of it to him.
What an interesting character. Not to mention the psychopath girl, the suit, the swordsman and all those other side characters who are excellently written aswell.
___jarring transition___
Tbh if I had that elixir I would just pick the ability to transform into a dragon. All the cool benefits of immortality, strength, tactical power, flight, durability and presence with none of the drawbacks of intricate designs others fell into and went insane. Keep it simple, stupid.
