Not everyone get wiser with age!
In my experience with age your personal characteristics get stronger. If you were are kind person you become even kinder. Being a silly person, even sillier. And if you were egoistic and not very nice, god forbid you are in my vicinity.
Being only 17, one summer I worked as a caretaker going to elderly peoples houses to clean, do their grocery shopping etc. I was shocked by the level of racism and vitriol some of them showed. I even had an old man sitting looking at me cleaning talking about my body while his wife were in an other room. I was still too young and timid to cuss him out and leave.
Then there were those who were kind, pleasant and friendly who made up for the others.
But that summer every illusion I had about the wise elderly disappeared forever.
