i used to work in a bookstore.
one thing you’d expect working in retail is that kids will constantly shoplift.
but it’s not kids. it is always old ladies. old ladies are the worst. they’d come in with their little grandma trolleys and just fill up with stuff and walk out.
and then when you call the cops, the cops go round and get some of your stuff back and say “you shouldn’t prosecute. she’s old and has a sad story about being senile” like that’s an excuse. these old ladies aren’t senile. they just act it to the police.
then they come back and do it again.
and all i can say is this: i loved this chapter.
i’m gonna bookmark it and read it again.
and again.
because old ladies are the damned worst.
