Never read the LN, but I’ll take a stab at guessing after she gets royally trounced, she’ll wind up joining their group.

she’s trying to use the MC’s identity but if it’s a hunting duel, then she is fighting against the Adventuring reputation of the MC which is low. She should have insisted for a battle bec that’s what the Earl title becomes relevant.
It’s like Lex forcing flight racing against Clark Kent and not against Superman.
