in the novel it was different they didnt introcude themselves as students… also he told them he was a mercenary working for the mage and they stayed with them for a while and they fought after they wanted to wake up the mage… the priest didnt really detect his dark seed either

A high level mage could probably be reasoned with, but a high priest who’s noticed the seed will declare him a monster on the spot with no argument. Yea he’s gonna have to kill them all.
if he wanted a place to wait for alea to recover why didnt he just wait in that cave
