they should just do it as the vice captain as the one who betrayed darien I mean he is loyal to the current captain so maybe he betrayed darien because of his loyalty to the new captain and he is also mad about mc joining them but that could just be because the mc is disrespcting the captain but if the vice captain did betray darien that would be another reason not to send mc to the new captain because the vice captain was still around so maybe darien thought that if the mc was sent there then the vice captain would do something to the mc but this is just a theory so idk
