Keep in mind they’re both still teens, Hitomi was 14 at the start, so at best she’s 15 and he’s 16 or 17 given the roughly one and a half years covered so far. It makes sense they’d take it slow given their personalities, even if some of us were roiling masses of confused hormones at the time.
