ive been a little confused for a while now maybe i forgot something but are they not a part of the kingdom? or is like an independent city state? because if they are part of the kingdom this whole defending the city against them in a battle is kind of ridiculous to be starting with. normally they would start with demanding high taxes or something, maybe drafting some manpower not sending an armed group like its a rebellion or something
