Hm… With this manga being less serious in nature, Its hard to know for sure if this sort of thing matters, …but normally you’d have to be wary of such simplistic solutions to complex problems, such as matters of safety and security.
With the ambitious and likely nefarious people effectively being kept out, they’d not fail to notice others passing through continuously for trade… Omui’s merchants would end up being targeted because it would become obvious that they have some kind of “Key.” One which could easily be stolen. And that would only be the beginning.

… Why do it in that roundabout way? He could just have his golem stand up and sit down, depending on the person who wants to pass.
