To the comment below my theory is diffrent ,i think the gods which were defeated by humans and dragon were trying to controle the whole story as they see fit cause u know the orginal webtoon did not have the part in which the history was shown.and the heroking or whatever his name was programed to hit anyone who were greedy but the soul of the king took over as he saw the chance of humanitys survival and a way for the story to exit the truemanshow
so: the gods or whatever force (daddy-o mentioned xenomorphs or something?) caused him to live after his death were responsible for his attack on them
but: he realized they were dragons, friends of the humans, so he stopped himself
then: he dissolved, either due to his rebellion or because the treasure was taken
