How about a completely dysfunctional, sad broken mess of a family that appears to train their members to grow up into disruptive, useless wastes of space instead of productive members of society?
I am looking forward to when the MC transcends the morass of his background and dismantles the current family structure.
I just hope he grows enough along the way to be able to create a replacement which is actually capable of nurturing its future descendents properly.
