Again the author shows that he can’t do political intrigue well.

The trap to catch the spy itself was clever, but how it played out fumbles:

(1)Why would the Saintess start shouting the ‘Rebellion’ report basically giving away the act of praying to the divine? The 1 hr time constraint doesn’t seem like much. We also lack geographical knowledge of the distance between the church and the house.

(2) This so called spy network hadn’t planned for the situation on how to pass feedback to their spy in a discreet manner. The statue talking, and not in a pretend God speaking manner, back is dumb af. Anyone observing the saintess can tell what’s going on.

Last point is on Ash’s gamble, the smart and devious 2nd brother failed to notice the obvious; Ash will be asking the ppl who lost the war & who has little to nothing to participate in a war. These ppl will hate Ash even if he provides them with better living standards. Not to mention how many of them will actively sabotage Ash in order to get payback against the empire.
